The Spalding/Pike Dive Team face some of the most difficult and demanding scenarios of any rescue group. Typically diving in low-visibility or even black-out conditions, in freezing temps., in contaminated waters, racing to save a life or methodically searching the bottom for evidence. This is not recreational diving, nor is recreational dive training adequate to answer the demands of these underwater activities.

There has been a tremendous growth in awareness of the need to effectively respond to water emergencies. The Spalding County Sheriff’s Department, and the Pike County Fire Department, established U.E.R.T.(Underwater Evidence Recovery Team). The Spalding/Pike agencies ensures preparedness from their public safety divers. U.E.R.T. has three pronged approach to aquatic preparedness that ensures public safety divers respond effectively to water-incident scenes. We combine:
State of the art knowledge of rescue and recovery.
A network of experienced professionals who also work in the field.
Field exercises with operational standards that ensure sustainable performance.
Spalding/Pike U.E.R.T. has remained committed to providing assistance for all those involved in aquatic incidents.
This approach supports UERT’s preparedness goals and provides training tailored to enhance departmental operations.
